1998
Had two guitarists at this point but decided to slim down musically
to a three piece due to a change in style and a need for a tighter cleaner sound.
Pete also decided to give up his vocal work, which he had at this point, to
concentrate on his guitar work. Began searching for a vocalist.
1999
Found vocalist in a local friend and fan who took the band onto further
level. With a dedicated and committed vocalist in place,
HEREAFTER continued to evolve until we again progressed musically, to a point
which required a change in vocal style and resulted in the band searching once
again for a vocalist. The frustration of not having a complete band and being
held back in writing made this a low point for the band.
2002
Auditions began in the studio for a new vocalist
with several applicants being tried out. However, none gave us the inspiration
we needed. One vocalist who had previously impressed us in another local band however provided
the vocals required. Shaun was a familiar face but until now had remained just
that. It was a gut feeling we all had which convinced us he was the musician
and natural person for the job.
From the first session the range and vocal ability shaun gave for the first
time added to the musical as oppose to the vocals taking something away. The
new freedom we found in vocal adaptability again streamlined the sound of the
band into a more compressed and aggressive unit, providing further progression.
